The route is quite easy except for the climb to Volterra, a village built on a hill. The road seems endless and nevertheless, when the city gates appear, it is just a return to the history of this place built in the 8th century.

Start from Siena

Rather quiet day through the vineyards of Tuscany. Lots of large meadows, antennas and even a wind power plant.

Volterra

The city of Volterra was built on a hill. You can see it from far away, surrounded by its moorlands, each one greener than the other. And in the middle, stands Volterra, high perched, straight out of a mirage.

The interior

The town, a fortified city built in the 8th century, has very thick walls. Once inside, it is a maze of alleys which offers itself to you and which really deserves a small visit.
