This morning, I leave Kilkenny in the rain. Fortunately, the stage is not too long. I should reach my goal around 1pm. A small climb awaits me between the 10th and 20th km, otherwise it’s bumpy but without much difficulty.
The road will take us through the village of Castlewarren, then we leave Killkenny County to drive into Carlow County.
The road continues for almost 50km towards Old Leighlin, we pass under the freeway bridge before reaching the Leighlinbridge, which we cross to admire its castle.
Further on, we pass through the village of Tullow, then past the ruins of Clonmore Castle before descending to Tinahely, the first village in County Wicklow, a hiker’s paradise and the goal of our stage of the day.
Tinahely has less than 1000 souls and yet it feels like a small town. The center of the village is lively and the inhabitants share the few terraces. I have rarely seen so many shopkeepers for such a small village. The river Derry flows not far away.
My choice ended at the pub “The dying cow“. I love the name of the pub. I wonder if they have good steak there?
