Tour of Lake Schiffenen

Table of contents
This tour focuses on the canton of Fribourg and its capital, leapfrogging over three districts and its two linguistic regions. Nice route, not too long, ideal for the beginning of the season.

Start from Romont

The tour passes in front of the Romont train station, direction Fribourg. At the foot of the hill, turn left, under the SBB bridge. Go up towards the forest, passing in front of the military place. Then follow the road towards Châtonnaye, Middes, Corserey, Noréaz, Ponthaux, Grolley. A small loop to get away from the traffic, passing by Misery, Courtion, Cournillens.

Lake of Schiffenen

Just before Pensier, the road turns to the left, to follow the lake on its left bank, passing in front of the castle of Barberêche. The road continues until the northern point of the lake, before turning back to take the direction of Guin (Düdingen in German). We then return to the capital of Fribourg, passing by the Schönberg quarter, then by the road to Bourguillon, before crossing the Gottéron bridge, where the route of the “Grand tour” of Switzerland also stops.

Route back home

The road continues through the traffic of the city of Fribourg, passing by the plateau of Pérolles until Marly. We branch off to Chésalles, through the forest, to reach Arconciel. The return to the Glâne region is via Corpataux, Magnedens, Posat, Estavayer-le-Gibloux, Orsonnens, Masonnens, Romont.

Nice ride with no major difficulties, except for a few bumps requiring a little effort. Not too long, ideal for the beginning of the season.
