Leaving Cork
Not unhappy to leave Cork and find the quietness of the countryside. This morning, we find the bicycle path leaving Cork city center, which is a good surprise. It continues to the ferry dock at Glenbrook.
A pure Midleton malt
On the way, don’t forget to stop in Midleton. This is where the family distillery of the famous Jameson whisky is located. It is open to the public. It organizes tours with or without tasting. A must, even if it is said that Irish whisky is not as good as Scotch whisky, its founder is Scottish. So I leave you to polemic.
Youghal
We leave the county of Cork to reach the seaside at Youghal, an holiday ressort for the inhabitants of Cork.
About 5km from Youghal is the bicycle path, on the left side of course.
The road to Cashel
The route, leaving Cappoquin, rises abruptly. The difference in altitude climbs 300m for about 10km. A good little challenge to digest the previously ingested alcohol. Nature is really beautiful here and the “Black River” is majestic.
The last 20 kilometers between Cahir and Cashel are quite easy. Cashel is built on a kind of hill with a magnificent castle on top that I recommend you to visit.
